information for new students

"We appreciate that where you live is a very important part of your life at University and we recognise that meeting your needs as far as possible will help you to make the most of this new and exciting period in your life. As you may be aware, it is not always possible to meet your first choice of residence but I am sure that you will find something in our range of accommodation to meet your requirements. The following pages are designed to give you the information you will require to complete the application form and to give you some idea of the procedures that are involved in applying for and being allocated accommodation."

Vivien Insull, Director - Accommodation Essex

The University has signed up to the UUK code. Accommodation Essex is committed to offering a well managed, cost effective and efficient service.  For further details on the UUK Code of practise please click on the icon below.

  • New students will have email sent to their non-essex email address by 'accom' (the address in full has '@essex.ac.uk' after 'accom'). Owing to the large number of students who are emailed, you may need to take action to prevent emails from accom getting treated as junk or spam mail. How exactly you do this depends on your email client (programme used to receive email). For example with webmail from hotmail.com you should click on Options, then under Junk Email click on the 'safe and blocked senders' link, then click on 'Safe senders' and add the accom address (with @essex.ac.uk on the end) to the list.
