Information for disabled students and prospective students with disabilities
Student Support
has a team of specialist disability advisers who provide advice and guidance to
disabled students on access to the University and their studies. The website
provides extensive information on support available to students across a range
of disabilities.

Departmental Disability Liaison Officers (DDLOs)
Every department has a
designated DDLO who has an awareness of disability issues and also a
knowledge of the subject area and the structure of the department.
Disability and Equality Policy
Equality and Diversity Unit has a major responsibility for
policy development at the University, including the
Policy Statement and Code of Practice on Disability for Students and other
codes and policies relating to disability.
Dealing with Harassment
The Equality and Diversity Unit is also responsible for
running the
Harassment Advisory Network,
a group of experienced advisers appointed and trained by the University to
support any member of the university community (students, staff and visitors)
experiencing harassment.
Students Union Representation
The 'Students with disabilities' committee, the SWD Officer and the Equality
and Diversity Officer, are an elected group of student members responsible for
taking questions forward on behalf of disabled students and campaigning on their
issues.
Health and Safety
The Safety Office
provides fire
safety information and advice specific to disability, including in relation
to
Personal
Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPS: individual plans put in place for staff
with mobility impairments which may affect their ability to evacuate campus
buildings in the event of an emergency).
