Facilities on and around campus provide a wealth of resources for students and businesses alike. They include:

  • Southend Health and Dental Care, is a GP and dentistry service located within the Gateway Building, which offers free dental treatment to students and the general public through the Barts and the London Academic Dental Clinic. GP services are provided within the building by a local practice.
  • The Union is a modern social space and cafe for students at the Southend Campus. The Union provides a gateway to all of the Students' Union's services, events and activities.
  • Clifftown is a newly renovated church providing further space for the East 15 Acting School students, complementing the existing facilities in the Gateway building. Original features of the church have been maintained and developed to now offer seminar rooms, five studios and a performance space seating up to 200 people in the beautiful environment and flexible space which will also be used for professional and community performances.
  • The Careers Centre has a base on campus with reference material and dedicated PCs.  A Careers Advisor holds a programme of seminars and workshops and help students make choices about work and further study by offering extensive services and resources such as one-to-one interviews to provide guidance and information.
  • A Multi-Faith Chaplaincy and Prayer Room which are open for use by all members of the University who wish to pray, meditate or spend some time in quiet reflection.
  • Library facilities for students in Southend Campus are provided jointly by the Albert Sloman Library at the Colchester campus, and by South Essex College in Southend. Students can either go next door to the college where all our course listed books are stocked or request books from the Albert Sloman Library which are delivered in our daily courier service. A dedicated HE area of the South Essex College library is available to our students with PC's linked to the University network and printer.
  • There are a variety of Computer Labs in addition to providing network access in student accommodation.
  • Our Business Incubation Centre is home to over 20 new and growing businesses, providing a professional environment that is conducive to their growth and development during the early stages of their lifecycle.
  • The Business Hub also contains an impressive i-Lab, conference and meeting rooms all available to hire.
