Emergency action in the event of a fire (full details)

If you have a permanent or temporary disability that may mean you have difficulty in evacuating one or more areas, contact the University's Fire Safety Officer (Ext: 4847) to discuss a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP).

Emergency information – first aid or security

If there’s an incident requiring first aid, security or the police, call:

Colchester Campus: telephone (01206 87) 2222
From student residences on Colchester Campus, call 224 2222 from emergency phones or Studentcom

Please do not dial 999 on the Colchester campus. This may be your first instinct, but using the University emergency numbers means campus patrol or officers can direct the emergency service you need to the exact site of the emergency without delay.

Southend campus: telephone (01702 32) 8208 and ask for first aid, ambulance, fire service or police. (In the event of sudden illness or collapse call 999, then (01702 32)8208. Security staff will meet the ambulance and direct them to the casualty.
Loughton campus: Call 999 to request the appropriate emergency service, then (020 8508) 5983, to inform Reception.

Non-urgent first aid / security assistance

On the Colchester Campus, call the Information Centre on (01206 87) 2125, or a trained first aider in your department if there is one. (Call 224 2125 from Studentcom)
On the Southend campus, call (01702 32) 8208 for security officers in the Gateway Building.
At Clifftown Studios in Southend, call 8325 or 8326 for help from on-site first aiders
At Loughton: Call reception: (020 8508) 5983. Details of trained staff are also displayed next to all first aid kits.
For security at Loughton [outside office hours] Call 07825670709 until 12.00 midnight Monday to Saturday.
