From making businesses run smoothly to gaming and simulating behaviour, many everyday processes have a basis in computing, while advances in electronics have made the internet, innovative telecommunications and inexpensive computing possible. At Essex we teach and research at Undergraduate, Masters and Postgraduate Research levels, in all these areas and more.
We have a variety of specialist facilities in the areas of brain-computer interfaces, robotics, embedded systems, lasers/photonics and networking, and a laboratory-based teaching and research Centre for Computational Finance and Economic Agents.
“Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills are essential to drive technological progress and innovation. Knowledge and experience are key. Our world-leading researchers and innovators support your education so you can actively shape the future.”
The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Research Experience Scheme gives undergraduate and Masters degree students opportunities to work with academics on research projects. You'll be able to choose between focusing on research in our School, or work on a collaborative project with our colleagues in the Department of Psychology.
