The University celebrated its 40th anniversary during the 2004-2005 academic year. This website includes information about events held to mark the anniversary, and the University's future plans.

In 1816, the artist John Constable made an impressive painting of Wivenhoe Park, which is now home to the University. In 2000 the painting returned to Wivenhoe Park for the first time since it was painted for a special exhibition in the University gallery celebrating the millennium.
